Hisbah CG warns immoral individuals in Kano: Repent or leave

Kano’s Hisbah Commander General, Aminu Daurawa, made an announcement recently. He said that people involved in what they see as “immoral activities” in the state have a two-week chance to change their ways or leave Kano.

Daurawa spoke about this to BBC Hausa. He mentioned that after talking with Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, they sorted out their differences.

Before this, there was some trouble. Daurawa left his job suddenly because the governor didn’t agree with how Hisbah was doing things.

But then, some important people talked to Daurawa to make peace. After that, he met with the governor.

In his interview with BBC, Daurawa said, “We’re still on a mission to make sure Kano stays free from what we see as immoral things.

The Governor promised to keep supporting us and give us what we need to do our job better.

“We had a good talk, and the Governor asked me to stay. We fixed any problems we had, and I’m happy to keep leading Hisbah.

“The recent trouble just makes us more determined. We’ll work even harder to reach our goals.

“So, those who are doing things we don’t like in Kano should change or leave. Hisbah is giving them two weeks to change.

We even made a form for them to fill out called ‘Na tuba’. We’ll give them money and teach them about business.

If they don’t want to change, they should leave because Kano isn’t a place for what we see as bad behavior.”

Daurawa also talked about making Hisbah better. He said, “We want to get better at what we do.

We’ll train our staff more and make a special Hisbah Training School. People can get diplomas, NCE qualifications, and even degrees in Hisbah things.

“To make sure we’re doing things right, we’ll make new parts of Hisbah, like Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and a Legal department.”
