Plateau mourns APC Publicity Secretary Sylvanus Namang; Lalong warns against political killings

Many people gathered at the Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN) Gigiring Jos to honor Mr. Sylvanus Namang, who was killed by unknown gunmen two weeks ago.

Senator Simon Bako Lalong spoke at the service, praising Mr. Namang for his courage and dedication to truth, justice, and fairness.

He also expressed concern about the increasing violence against politicians in Plateau, citing Mr. Namang’s death and the recent killing of Hon. Sunday Muchen.

Senator Lalong urged Governor Caleb Mutfwang to address this issue and ensure the safety of the state.

He also called for the swearing-in of House of Assembly Members to move the state forward.

Governor Mutfwang offered condolences to Mr. Namang’s family and promised justice. He encouraged people to provide any information that could help catch the killers and cautioned against politicizing Mr. Namang’s death.

Mr. Namang’s son and widow also spoke, praising his love, care, and dedication to his work despite facing threats. His widow urged journalists to investigate his death thoroughly.

According to his son “I appeal to my fellow Plateau State citizens that it is ok to have different views and political choices. Even I and my father never agreed on everything and he taught us to hold our convictions dear to us”

A pastor delivered a sermon about death and judgment. Many others, including former colleagues and community leaders, paid tribute to Mr. Namang’s legacy.

Finally, Mr. Namang was laid to rest in his hometown. Senator Lalong also visited the family of Hon. Sunday Muchen to offer condolences and promised to find his killers.
