Governor Dikko Umaru Radda of Katsina State has asked the Federal government for more help with security.
He wants more support to stop the bandits causing trouble in the state. He talked about this on Friday when he spoke to protesters in Birchi community in Kurfi local government area.
The protesters were angry about a recent attack by bandits on Wurma community. The bandits killed people and destroyed a health facility, a police outpost, houses, and vehicles in Wurma.
The governor said the state needs help from the Federal government to stop the violence.
He also said the state government will send 100 security people to Wurma. They will be provided with food every day to help bring back peace to the area.
Governor Radda said he understands the protesters’ feelings and is saddened by the violence.
He expressed his sympathy for the families who lost loved ones and the community affected by the attack.
“My heart aches for the children who have lost their parents and the community that has been so deeply affected. I stand with you in this time of unimaginable pain and hardship.”
He promised to work with security agencies to catch the bandits and punish them. He said he won’t stop until there is peace and security in Katsina State.
Governor Radda asked the people of Birchi and Wurma communities to support the state’s security agencies in fighting banditry. He assured them that he is committed to restoring peace in the areas affected by violence.
