Reps urge FG to address 24 terrorist cells in Katsina per UN report

—

The House of Representatives asked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to do something about the recent report from the United Nations about the security problems in parts of Katsina State.

The report said there are 24 groups of terrorists in about 30 forests in the North-West region of Nigeria.

This decision was made after a discussion led by Hon. Aliyu Abubakar. He said that for a long time, the North-Western States, especially Katsina State, have been dealing with bandit attacks. He mentioned that 23 out of the 34 areas in Katsina State have been directly attacked.

Hon. Abubakar talked about the United Nations report, which talked about the terrorists in Katsina State and mentioned specific places like Kankara, Safana, Jibia, and Batsari. The report said there are about 1,920 terrorists living in these areas.

The House is worried about how these bandits are hurting people and destroying things in Northern Nigeria. They think this is affecting the politics and development of the region.

To deal with this problem, the lawmakers want the security agencies to use the information from the report to fight against the bandits in Katsina State.

They also want stricter measures to protect people and their things in the areas where the attacks are happening.

The House also wants the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation to help the victims of these attacks. They want to make sure people in those areas get the help they need.

To make sure these decisions are followed, the House is putting its Committee on Emergency Disaster Preparedness in charge of making sure everything happens as planned.
