After sustaining an injury during Nigeria’s second Group A game at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, Super Eagles Captain, William Troost-Ekong has reportedly landed in Finland to undergo a minor surgery.
The 2023 AFCON tournament’s best player, who featured for 90 minutes in game, netted the winner for the West Africans from the spot in the 55 minutes.
It was gathered that the PAOK defender who missed Nigeria’s final group game against Guinea-Bissau due to the injury, will undergo surgery in Finland Wednesday 28 February to fix a ruptured biceps femoris in his right leg.
Ekong however bounced back for the Round of 16 victory against the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon.
The 30-year-old also played every minutes of the Super Eagles next three games.
He is expected to return to play for Greek side PAOK Salonica towards the end of the season.
