Prioritize soldiers’ welfare over footballers, Ossai tells Tinubu

—

In a recent statement, Ossai Ovie Success, the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State, has drawn attention to the stark disparity in the rewards given to Nigerian soldiers compared to footballers. Success asserted that soldiers, who risk their lives to maintain peace and security in the nation, deserve far greater recognition and support from the government.

Success highlighted the crucial role played by soldiers in safeguarding the nation, emphasizing that without peace and security, the enjoyment of events like football matches would be impossible. He lamented the lack of adequate rewards for soldiers and their families, despite the sacrifices they make for the country.

According to Success, while footballers receive substantial rewards, including lands in Abuja and monetary incentives, for their achievements, soldiers are often overlooked in terms of recognition and support. He pointed out that many soldiers have lost their lives in the line of duty without their families receiving commensurate benefits or recognition from the government.

Success called on the government to prioritize the welfare of soldiers and ensure they are adequately rewarded for their service to the nation. He stressed the importance of motivating soldiers by providing them with tangible incentives and support, including land allocations and financial rewards.
