Nigeria’s Narcotic Agency Arrests Drug Supplier to Terrorists in Borno

—

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) recently conducted operations across several states, resulting in the arrest of twenty-four suspected drug traffickers and dealers.

These individuals were apprehended for various drug-related offenses, including smuggling and distribution.

In Borno State, a 42-year-old man named Ahmad Mohammed was caught with 20,000 capsules of tramadol hidden in his luggage.

He was believed to be transporting these opioids to an area known to be frequented by insurgents.

The largest seizure occurred in Nasarawa State, where a truck carrying 4,037 kilograms of cannabis sativa was intercepted. Three suspects were apprehended in connection with this incident.

In Abuja, the nation’s capital, two separate operations led to the arrest of individuals transporting significant quantities of cannabis sativa.

In one instance, 169 bags and 80 blocks of compressed cannabis sativa weighing 1,961.5 kilograms were seized. In another operation, 89 kilograms of the same substance were found in a truck destined for Gwagwalada.

Additional arrests and seizures occurred in Ondo State, where various quantities of cannabis sativa were intercepted.

In one instance, detergents were used to mask the odor of the drugs, and packs of table water were placed on top to conceal the illicit consignment.

In Kano, a 58-year-old man was apprehended with 216,000 pills of tramadol, highlighting the prevalence of opioid trafficking in the region.

Other individuals were also caught with tramadol and other controlled substances in different parts of the state.

These operations demonstrate the NDLEA’s commitment to combating drug trafficking and abuse across Nigeria.

By intercepting large quantities of illicit drugs and apprehending those involved in their distribution, law enforcement authorities aim to disrupt the activities of drug networks and protect communities from the harmful effects of substance abuse.
