Nigerian company named exclusive distributor for Elon Musk’s Starlink in Africa

—

The technology distribution company in Nigeria, TD Africa, has been granted permission by Elon Musk’s Starlink to distribute Starlink kits throughout Africa.

Starlink provides high-speed, low-latency Internet to subscribers worldwide. It started operating mostly in Nigeria in early 2023. It offers businesses and households high-quality, reasonably priced Internet connectivity, with a focus on underdeveloped or unreached distant areas.

Starlink, designed and run by SpaceX, is the largest constellation of satellites in the world that uses a low Earth orbit to provide broadband Internet that may be used for video chats, streaming, online gaming, and other applications.

In order to implement the most cutting-edge broadband internet system in the world, SpaceX is making use of its extensive experience with both spacecraft and on-orbit operations.

In a statement released yesterday, TD Africa said that it intended to use the unique selling characteristics of Starlink—namely, its high speed, low latency, wide coverage, and scalability—to close the digital gap.

Starlink already has 2.3 million customers and is present in more than 70 countries as of 2023.

As per the deal, Starlink’s high-speed Internet and TD Africa’s vast distribution network were combined to offer creative solutions and services that provide broadband access, encouraging economic development throughout Africa.

Nigerian Starlink Internet Kits will be distributed by TD Africa, which was established more than 24 years ago. Microsoft, IBM, Apple, Cisco, Hewlett Packard, Dell Technologies, Samsung, Huawei, Nokia, Lenovo, Asus, and many more are among its more than 27 international corporations.

Speaking, Mrs. Chioma Chimere, Coordinating Managing Director of TD Africa, emphasized the partnership between Starlink’s dedication to revolutionizing global internet access and TD Africa’s expertise as a top supplier of business and technology solutions.

She emphasized TD Africa’s goal of offering people and businesses reliable, reasonably priced Internet solutions while expressing excitement about the expansion prospects this cooperation brings to the continent.

With Starlink and TD Africa in the forefront of offering creative and dependable solutions to satisfy the changing demands of the digital economy, this revolutionary partnership heralds the beginning of a new era for Internet access in Africa.
