The Nigeria Police Force, FCT Command, has apprehended a group of eight men involved in a robbery, which was captured by a surveillance camera in Abuja.
Shockingly, two of the apprehended armed robbers were also implicated in the murder of a taxi driver named Ugu Bonaventure, a crime they openly admitted to.
The robbery incident, recorded on CCTV, revealed a prolonged criminal activity within a building, as the occupants endured a prolonged assault without a prompt response from law enforcement.
These culprits, allegedly affiliated with the so-called “Repentant Boko Harams,” were reported to operate in various areas of Abuja, including Utako, Wuye, Jabi Dakibiyu, Life Camp, and Durunmi.
Expressing concern over the incident, a police officer in Abuja remarked, “Initially, this should not have happened because we are entrusted to safeguard lives and properties. This empowered us to act within our respective jurisdictions.
Thanks to the leadership and guidance of the Commissioner of Police, we successfully cracked down on and apprehended these criminals.”
Furthermore, three of the eight robbers were separately captured on another CCTV footage while pilfering a Plasma Television and other valuables from the residence of a senior military officer.
In response to the escalating criminal activities, the Police Command’s spokesperson, DSP Josephine Adeh, urged residents with the means to consider reinforcing their properties with effective security measures.
This, she emphasized, would assist law enforcement in delivering more efficient and responsive services.
The incident highlights the challenges faced by law enforcement in ensuring the safety of citizens and underscores the importance of proactive security measures in residential areas.
