NiMet predicts three days of sunny weather with haziness starting from Monday

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency, NiMet, has made predictions for the weather across the country from Monday to Wednesday. 

According to their outlook released in Abuja on Sunday, they anticipate sunny conditions and haziness during this period.

On Monday, NiMet forecasts sunny skies with a hazy atmosphere in the northern region and the north central states.

In the morning hours, inland cities of the south and coastal areas may experience patches of cloud in a hazy atmosphere.

Additionally, there might be early morning mist in parts of Lagos, Abia, Anambra, Enugu, Ekiti, Imo, Akwa Ibom, Rivers, Delta, Edo, and Cross River states.

In the afternoon and evening, localized thunderstorms are expected over parts of Lagos, Ogun, Ondo, and Bayelsa states.

Throughout the forecast period, NiMet predicts a continuation of sunny and hazy conditions in the north and the north central states.

In the south, there’s an expectation of patches of cloud in the morning over inland cities and the coastal areas.

Furthermore, localized thunderstorms are anticipated in the afternoon and evening over parts of Delta, Lagos, Abia, Ogun, Ondo, Osun, Edo, Bayelsa, and Rivers states.

Moving on to Wednesday, NiMet foresees sunny skies within a hazy atmosphere over the northern region and the north central states.

In the morning, inland cities of the south and the coastal belt may experience sunny skies with cloud patches in a hazy atmosphere.

The agency also predicts localized thunderstorms over parts of Delta, Rivers, and Bayelsa states during the afternoon and evening.

NiMet issues a cautionary note, mentioning that dust particles are in suspension, advising the public to take necessary precautions.

Individuals with asthma and respiratory issues should be cautious of the prevailing weather conditions.

Airline operators are advised to obtain updated weather reports from NiMet for effective planning in their operations.

There’s a likelihood of strong winds preceding or accompanying the thunderstorms, and citizens are advised to take necessary safety precautions.

Disaster Risk Managers, agencies, and individuals are encouraged to be proactive to avert potential loss of lives and property.
