Boko Haram Terrorists kill loggers in Borno State

—

In a tragic incident recently, two loggers lost their lives in the Dure/Wala communities within the Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State, Nigeria.

The Emir of Gwoza, Alhaji Mohammed Shehu Timta, confirmed this unfortunate event, which occurred on Tuesday.

The victims were ambushed by suspected Boko Haram terrorists while they were in the bush fetching wood around the Dure-Wala and Mandara Mountain area.

According to the Emir, the bodies of the loggers were recovered and laid to rest in accordance with their religious rites.

Shedding light on the security situation in the region, the monarch shared that trenches have been dug as a proactive measure to impede insurgents from carrying out frequent attacks on innocent citizens.

These defensive measures have notably reduced the frequency of assaults.

Highlighting the effectiveness of the trenches between Gwoza and Mandara Mountains, which border Cameroon Republic, the Emir appealed for the extension of such protective measures to the Limankara communities.

This appeal reflects a community-driven effort to enhance security and safeguard residents from potential threats.

Expressing gratitude, the Emir acknowledged the collaborative efforts of the state government and security agents in addressing security challenges around Mandara Mountain and Sambisa Forest.

This recognition underscores the importance of coordinated actions between authorities and local leaders in ensuring the safety and well-being of the populace.

Despite the unfortunate loss of lives, the Emir’s call for further protective measures demonstrates a commitment to proactive strategies aimed at preventing future incidents.

The intricate nature of the security situation in the region requires continuous endeavors and cooperation to ensure the safety and well-being of the inhabitants and their means of living.

This underscores the need for sustained commitment and joint actions to address the multifaceted challenges posed by the security landscape, with the ultimate goal of safeguarding the lives and livelihoods of the residents.
