Soldiers from the military joint task force, known as Operation Haderin Daji (OPHD), effectively neutralized a total of 10 terrorists in the states of Katsina and Zamfara.Â
This accomplishment was disclosed by Captain Ibrahim Yahaya, the spokesperson for Operation Haderin Daji (OPHD).
This achievement occurred during recent dry season clearance operations led by Major General Godwin Mutkut, the General Officer Commanding 8 Division Nigerian Army.
On January 3, 2024, OPHD’s combined troops conducted an offensive operation in recognized terrorists’ hideouts in Batsari and Safana Local Government Areas of Katsina State.
In the engagement, 10 terrorists were neutralized, while others escaped with gunshot injuries.
The seized items included 1 AK-47 rifle, ammunition, 7 Dane guns, 3 locally crafted guns, communication gadgets, mobile phones, military uniforms, and 4 motorcycles, which were promptly destroyed.
Simultaneously, OPHD forces in Zamfara State carried out a search and rescue operation at Dansadau and Dandalla villages in Maru Local Government Area on the same day.
This operation resulted in the rescue of 9 kidnapped victims, comprising 5 women and 4 babies. The terrorists abandoned the victims as they fled during a gun battle with the resilient troops.
The rescued individuals were swiftly reunited with their families in Magami.
Major General Godwin Mutkut, who serves as the Commander of Operation Haderin Daji, expressed commendation towards the troops under his command, lauding their unwavering efforts in the line of duty.
He extended words of encouragement, urging them to maintain their exemplary dedication and performance at the elevated standards they have consistently demonstrated.
