BREAKING: Chief Imam and okada rider killed in Plateau attack

In Ndun village of Tangur District in Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State, the Chief Imam of Jumma’at Mosque, Malam Muhammad Sani Idris, and an okada rider named Muhammad Gambo were tragically killed.

This distressing incident was confirmed by Garba Abdullahi, the Chairman of Gan Allah Fulani Development Association (GAFDAN), who also shared that the younger brother of the slain Imam, Salisu Muhammad Sani Idris, sustained injuries during the attack and was undergoing treatment at Dung Hospital in Bokkos town.

GAFDAN Chairman Abdullahi reported that the incident was promptly communicated to the security agencies in Bokkos for swift action. This unfortunate event occurred shortly after a series of attacks in Bokkos LGA, where more than 150 people lost their lives in about 23 villages just a week prior.

Providing details on the incident, Chairman Abdullahi explained, “The Chief Imam and his younger brother went to the community on Monday to retrieve some belongings left behind during the recent attacks, where houses of our members were burned down.

Unexpectedly, they were attacked by hoodlums. Tragically, the Imam lost his life, while his younger brother survived with machete wounds.”

Adding to the grievous situation, another member of the community, Muhammed Gambo, who worked as an okada rider, was also killed on Monday near Bokkos Market while transporting a passenger to the area. Both incidents were reported to the Police and Operation Safe Have in Bokkos.

Despite attempts to gather more information, spokespersons for OPSH and the state police command, Captain Oya James and DSP Alabo Alfred respectively, did not respond to inquiries at the time of filing this report.

The community remains in mourning, and the need for immediate security measures is emphasized in light of these distressing events.
