Governor Zulum allocates N100 million to assist 10,000 families, provides Christmas gifts to soldiers

—

Borno State Governor, Babagana Umara Zulum, traveled to Rann, the main town in Kala-Balge Local Government Area, to oversee the distribution of N100 million to more than 10,000 families on Thursday.

Using a helicopter from Maiduguri, the governor supervised the cash distribution to residents, many of whom had lost their means of earning a living.

The beneficiaries comprised male heads of households, vulnerable women, and housewives, each receiving a cash amount of ten thousand naira (N10,000).

Governor Zulum clarified that the cash distribution aimed to support the residents of Rann, a community that had been isolated for six months due to recurring flooding from other parts of the state.

“We are here in Rann, the headquarters of Kala-Balge, mainly to provide cash support to this community that was cut off from the rest of the country for the last 6 months as a result of flooding,” said Governor Zulum.

The flooding, caused by water discharge from the Lagbdo dam in Cameroon Republic, occurs annually, preventing Rann residents from traveling to other parts of Borno for basic necessities.

During his visit to Rann, Governor Zulum addressed the troops of the 3rd battalion, expressing gratitude to the Nigerian military for their sacrifices and resilience in maintaining peace and safeguarding the people of Borno State.

In a gesture of appreciation, the governor directed that each soldier at the battalion receive N50,000 as a Christmas and end-of-the-year gift.

Governor Zulum was accompanied to Rann by the majority leader at the Borno State House of Assembly, Dige Mohammed, who hails from Kala-Balge LGA.

The entourage also included commissioners of Local Government and Emirates Affairs, Sugun Mai Mele, and that of Religious Affairs, Babagana Malarima, as well as the Principal Secretary to the Governor, Mustapha Ali Busuguma, along with other senior government officials.
