Nigerian doctors honour Gov. Zulum for contribution to health sector development in Borno

In Abuja on Saturday, the Nigeria Medical Association (NMA) honored Babagana Zulum, the Governor of Borno State, for his significant contributions to the development of the health sector.

Dr. Uche Ojinmah, the National President of NMA, commended Governor Zulum during a dinner/award ceremony marking the conclusion of the 2023 National Executive Council (NEC) meeting.

Dr. Ojinmah praised Zulum for his efforts in uplifting the health sector in Borno State, creating an environment where citizens could benefit from various health opportunities to address their health challenges.

He acknowledged the governor’s commitment to improving healthcare and encouraged him to persist in his commendable work despite potential distractions from those he termed “enemies of progress.”

The governor, represented by the state Secretary to the Government, Bukar Tijani, expressed gratitude to the NMA for recognizing his efforts with the award of excellence.

Zulum stated that such recognition would serve as motivation to continue prioritizing the health sector.

According to the governor, the NMA’s decision was based on assessments of his performance, recognizing his focus on the health sector by providing essential tools and equipment to doctors across Borno.

Zulum emphasized his determination to ensure that citizens have access to quality healthcare at primary, secondary, and tertiary facilities.

He saw the award as validation to persist in his efforts to enhance the health sector’s performance.

“I think the Nigerian Medical Association has seen that the governor deserved to take the merit award; the NMA has done this based on performance and support given to the health sector.

“The driving force is determination to see that citizens enjoy the best, both in the primary, secondary and tertiary health facilities; this award is a confirmation to continue with the good work in the health sector,” Zulum said
