The UN General Assembly on Tuesday, approved a non-binding resolution calling for an “urgent humanitarian ceasefire” in Gaza. The vote saw 153 member states in favor, 10 against, and 23 abstentions.
BBC reports confirmed that overnight, Gaza experienced challenging conditions due to heavy showers, impacting Gazans residing in makeshift tents and shelters.
They explained that these showers resulted from a northeast African trough moving across the eastern Mediterranean. The interaction of cool air over warm seas, where sea temperatures remained in the low 20s, led to atmospheric instability, generating showers and thunderstorms.
However, the rainfall varies significantly across different areas.
Throughout the day, Gaza continued to be affected by additional showers. Subsequently, a high-pressure ridge ushered in dry weather, accompanied by temperatures well above average, persisting into the following week.
Towards the end of the week, there is anticipated precipitation.
Gaza primarily receives its annual rainfall between November and February, implying the likelihood of more instances of cool and wet weather in the following weeks and months.
According to the World Health Organization, Gaza’s health system has deteriorated, going from 36 hospitals to just 11, with only partial functionality.
Israel’s intense attacks have caused severe damage in the Gaza Strip, leading to the loss of more than 18,000 lives since the war began, as reported by the Gaza Health Ministry run by Hamas.
