2023 has been a year of learning and growth- Fireboy DML

The Nigerian artist Adedamola Adefolahan, better known by his stage name as Fireboy DML, has given an explanation for why his musical career has been somewhat quiet in 2023.

This year is one of those years where it’s vital for artists to grow and step down from all the madness, according to the singer, who had an amazing global run between 2021 and 2022 after the release of his hit song “Peru” and a remix of the song featuring British superstar Ed Sheeran.

Fireboy recently said, “2023 has been a year of learning and growth for me as a person and as an artist,” in an interview with Wat And Ers.

Last year, he claimed, he hardly had time for his personal life; however, this year has been relatively quiet for him, which has allowed him to spend more time with his family in Lagos, Nigeria.

He underlined the importance of realizing oneself outside of the artist persona after reflecting on this journey. “Reaching out beyond your artistic identity and acknowledging your humanity is acceptable at times.”

He acknowledged the fast-paced nature of his previous years, saying, “My life has taken me to a lot of places at once, but this year is one of those where artists need to mature and take a break from the chaos and simply enjoy and appreciate life for what it is.”

He continued by saying that the popular song “Peru” had changed his life and taken him to new places. He said:

“Peru changed my life and took me to so many places all at once but this year is one of those years where it’s necessary for artists to grow and step down from all the craziness and just enjoy life and appreciate life for what it really is.”

We hope to see more from the artist in the coming year!
