Road Crash Claims 17 Lives in Niger State

Reports reaching the News Chronicle indicate that no fewer than 17 persons have been confirmed dead in a lone car crash that occurred at Takalafiya Community on Yawuri Expressway, Magama LGA, Niger State.

A statement signed by the Spokesperson for the Federal Road Safety Corps in the state, Bisi Kazeem, on Wednesday, November 22, 2023, disclosed that the sad incident happened at about 3:00 PM on Tuesday, November 21, 2023, claiming the lives of 17 persons and leaving 208 badly injured.

Kazeem revealed that a total of 229 persons were involved in the accident, including 220 males, four females, and five children.

“From that number, 206 male adults, one female adult, and one male child were rescued with different degrees of injuries, while a total of 17 male adults were killed in the crash,” the statement added.

Kazeem revealed that the victims had been taken to Kantagora General Hospital for immediate medical attention, while the bodies of the 17 accident victims were deposited at the hospital’s mortuary.

The statement also cautioned truck drivers and other haulage vehicles about the danger of overloading goods and passengers.
