Alan Fisher Sets New Guinness Record

Two Guinness World Records about cooking marathons have been set by Irish chef and restaurant entrepreneur Alan Fisher, who is now living in Japan.

With an incredible 119 hours and 57 minutes, he first set a new record for the “longest cooking marathon (individual).” This achievement was more than a full day faster than the previous record established by Hilda Baci, a Nigerian cook.

As to the official website of GWR, after achieving this outstanding feat, Fisher went on to attempt the “longest baking marathon (individual)” and managed to create a new record by finishing in 47 hours and 21 minutes. With thirty-one hours and sixteen minutes, Wendy Sandner of the United States held the prior record.

Fisher underwent a rigorous regimen that involved spending more than 160 hours in the kitchen and little more than a day off in between the two record-breaking tries.

In March, while Alan was taking part in Tokyo’s “I Love Ireland” festival, he heard about the record for longest cooking marathon. In this festival, Alan spent two nights standing inside a hired cooking car.

He took the opportunity to conduct some internet research during his break and found that Lata Tondon of India had set the record at the time with a time of 87 hours and 45 minutes. Afterwards, Alan learned in May that Hilda Baci had broken the record, clocking in at ninety-three hours and eleven minutes.

At his restaurant, Kyojin Stewhouse, where he offers Irish food, the Tokyo resident accomplished these exploits. Fisher decided to take on the challenge of overcoming pandemic-related obstacles that nearly caused his business to fail.

A total of 3,360 servings of 32 traditional Irish dishes were prepared by the chef, who cooked over 550 kg of food to set these records. Fisher said that he was kept motivated even at moments of exhaustion and paranoia by the unfailing support of his people.
