Katsina United has been fined 1m and has been ordered to play their home games at Muhammadu Dikko Stadium home ground behind closed doors (without fans).
The development came after the club failed to provide sufficient security during their NPFL matchday5 against Sunshine Stars at their 35,000-capacity home ground. The stringent 5 goals thriller match which the Changi Boys won by 3-2 saw their fans invade the stadium, which breached the NPFL framework.
The club has been given a 14-day ultimatum to pay the fine or risk further sanctions for continuous breach of the framework & rules of NPFL. IMC also instructed the team to ensure adequate security is restored from henceforth, as failure to adhere to this warning will attract stiffer punishments.
Katsina United has 48 hours to accept or appeal this sanction from the date of this notice.
Katsina United faced a similar penalty last two seasons – a poor feat that relegated them from the first-tier league last season.
