The bigger loss is not mine but Nigerians – Atiku on Supreme Court Verdict:

—

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and presidential flag bearer of the PDP in the 2023 general elections, in a press conference in Abuja, spoke on the recent supreme court judgment that affirmed Bola Tinubu of the APC as the duly elected president of Nigeria.

He was surprised that despite the evidences that stood against Tinubu, the court still affirmed his election.

“The bigger loss is not mine but Nigerians as the supreme court legitimizes forgery and illegality……… If the supreme court decides that the INEC can say one thing and do another then there is no hope for the country”.

He said he is sure that history will vindicate him. “I always choose freedom, whatever the personal discomfort”

He recalled how his struggle for democracy in Nigeria has caused him losses and pain time and time again, citing a case where 9 policemen attached with him were murdered in an attempt to assassinate him.

Atikku argued that Bola Tinubu, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate was unfit to run in the presidential election in February 2023 in the first place.

Despite being definitive, Atiku said the Supreme Court’s decision left a lot to be desired.

Earlier, in its first response to the ruling of the Supreme Court, the party said that by upholding Tinubu’s legitimacy as Nigeria’s president, the Court had betrayed the people of Nigeria.
