Former Bayern Munich striker and now Barcelona forward, Robert Lewandowski has shown his support for Harry Kane, encouraging the Three Lions captain to succeed in the German Bundesliga.
The Polish striker reflected on the season he scored 41 goals in 29 league games, describing the feat as insane. Robert revealed that the Bundesliga is not an easy league, and it would be crazy to demand such huge numbers from his successor.
“When I look back at my record, I scored 41 goals in only 29 games. That was insane. Today it sounds even crazier that I think to myself: how did I do it? The Bundesliga is not an easy league. It wouldn’t be fair to demand this record from Harry Kane. He has to get used to a new culture, new league, new language.”
The 35-year-old said he netted 17 goals in his first season in the Bundesliga and Kane, who is experienced more can achieve better.
“I scored 17 Bundesliga goals in my first season at Bayern. Harry is more experienced than I was back then – he could score more. But that depends on how good things under Thomas Tuchel are going. But of course, I’m crossing my fingers for him”
Robert left Bayern two seasons ago to join Xavi at Barcelona. He scored 447 Bundesliga goals during his years with Dortmund and Bayern Munich, providing 115 assists.
Since joining Barcelona, the forward has been capped 56 times, scoring 39 goals and 12 assists to his name.
