My mum lies to my dad that she sent me on errand while I played football – Nnadozie Chiamaka
Super Falcon’s shot-stopper, Nnadozie Chiamaka, has revealed how difficult it was convincing her dad when she began chasing her dream as a footballer.Â
She asserted that most times her mum covers for her and would tell her dad she was on an errand while she goes to play football.
“It is thanks to my mum that I have a career. She really stood by me. Sometimes, when I went to play football, she had to tell lies to my Dad that she had sent me on an errand, so he would not know I was playing, as he was against it.”
While praising her mum for her hard work, Chiamaka further revealed that, sometimes she had to leave home and go to aunt’s place just to protect her from her dad.
“She would say I had gone to my aunt’s house or something like that, just to protect me. Not every mum would do what she has done, so that I can play football. I really appreciate her.”
The 22 years old who joined Paris Saint Germain from Rivers Angels in 2020 has risen to the rank of vice Captain in the Falcons team. She made her debut in 2018 and has been capped 23 times, having gone through the U17 and U20.
Nnadozie has featured in every minute of the Women’s World Cup – where she has kept 2 clean sheets and helped Nigeria to a round of 16 following her terrific penalty save against Canada during match day one.
