Napoli renames stadium after late club legend

—

Italian club Napoli has finally renamed their stadium which would now be called the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.
This step was taken to honour the late Diego Maradona who died at the age of 60 in November.
Napoli signed Maradona for a record fee from Barcelona in 1984 and he led the team to win two Serie A titles in 1987 and 1990.
The owner of Napoli Aurelio De Laurentiis made the proposal of renaming the stadium after Maradona died.
Former Argentina attacking midfielder and manager Maradona, who died aged 60 in November, led the Italian side to two Serie A titles, in 1987 and 1990.
Napoli owner Aurelio de Laurentiis proposed renaming the stadium in an open letter after Maradona’s death, which was also supported by the mayor of Naples, Luigi de Magistris.
The proposal was then agreed upon by the Naples city council.
Maradona spent seven years at Napoli winning 5 trophies and they are: 2 Serie A titles, 1 Copa Italia, 1 UEFA cup and 1 Italian super cup.
