The world football governing body FIFA has called on Technology companies to come about good and better visuals as it concerns offside decisions made by the video assistant referee (VAR).
The lines used by the VAR to call marginal offside has led to a lot of controversies, leaving viewers and even pundits in confusion.
FIFA has taken a step to clear every sense of confusion and according to reports, various incidents of controversial offside calls would be sent to firms and they are expected to provide solutions to FIFA’s Working Group for Innovation Excellence.
However, three firms have registered interest in working on the next phase to design a technology to assist the VAR to review offside decisions.
Reports also have it that, FIFA said the next phase should take place “as early as possible next year” due to the delay by the coronavirus pandemic.
