Anambra journalist in dire need of #2.5m for eye cancer surgery

—

A journalist working with Anambra State Ministry of Information, Mr John Bosco George may not only lose his sight completely but also his life, if he does not get urgent financial assistance to address a major cancer developing on his right eye.
The travails of John Bosco who was a Grade ‘A’ journalist with Anambra Broadcasting Service (ABS), started in December, 2019 when the Cancer began to develop but eventually manifested in a bizarre form in September, 2020.
The cancer has developed drastically on the left eye and from mere observation, may affect the second eye if something is not done urgently.
John Bosco had gone to many hospitals, seeking medical help but none has been able to offer him due to his inability to muster the required #2.5 million naira sum to enable him to undergo the surgery.
“I had gone to Federal Medical Centre, Asaba, Federal Eye Centre, Abakaliki and then to Guinness Eye Centre, Onitsha where I was referred to University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital. Today, I went to UNTH where I was told that only the hospital card is #10,000. I have spent a lot on this ailment. All my savings as a civil servant has gone into this problem and it is only getting worse,” he regretted.
John Bosco lamented that of all the medical facilities he had visited, no treatment has been given to him while the cancer continued to grow and cause him severe pain.
“All they have been telling me is that they will do a scan to see if the cancer has spread and affected the second eye. No form of treatment has been given to me and this cancer has continued to grow and cause me so much pain. That’s why I am appealing to the government to check the excesses of the medical workers because that is how many have died due to their carelessness. Somebody like me now, no form of palliative has been given to me with all the pain I am going through. It is quite painful,” Johnbosco said.
He regretted that since the ailment started, nobody has come to his rescue in terms of financial assistance despite his contributions at the government offices where he had paid his dues as a journalist.
Johnbosco appealed to government and public-spirited individuals to come to his rescue as the financial implication of the surgery to address the problem is beyond his capacity.
“I am at a crossroads now and I sincerely need help from well-meaning citizens to save my life. I am in severe pain and the way it is increasing, I fear for my life. Please our people should come to my aid to raise the sum of 2.5 million naira needed to do this surgery. Any help is appreciated. My account number is 3002433724, First Bank JohnBosco George,” he appealed.
