9mobile Appoints Obafemi Banigbe as New CEO

Telecommunications giant, 9mobile has announced the appointment of Obafemi Banigbe as its new Chief Executive Officer. 
Banigbe succeeds Juergen Peschel, who will continue to contribute to the company in a consultant capacity.
Banigbe brings a wealth of experience to his new role, with a career that spans several high-level positions in the telecommunications industry.
He began his telecom journey at Celtel, now Airtel Nigeria, and further honed his expertise at Ericsson in various roles.
His impressive career also includes serving as Chief Operations Officer at Millicom Ghana, along with multiple significant roles within the Millicom Group.
Banigbe’s career is marked by extensive international experience, having worked in the USA and numerous African countries.
He co-founded Silver Rock Technology Services Ghana and has been a Non-Executive Director at Amplitude Telecoms.
His advisory roles extend to Telecel Group, Nsano Group, and Kirusa group, reflecting his broad expertise and influence in the sector.
The Board of EMTS (9mobile) has expressed strong confidence in Banigbe’s ability to steer the company towards a promising future.
They expect him to focus on enhancing customer experience and network quality, and to collaborate with stakeholders in developing long-term business plans.
Banigbe has expressed enthusiasm about leading 9mobile, with a vision to transform the Nigerian telecoms sector. His leadership is anticipated to bring innovative changes and drive growth within the company.
Banigbe holds a Bachelor of Engineering from the Federal University of Technology Minna, Nigeria.
He has completed the Ericsson Management Development Program, an Advanced Management Program at the London Business School, and an MBA from Manchester Business School, equipping him with a solid foundation for his new role.
Before his appointment as CEO, Banigbe was a Senior Partner: Strategy and Technology with Africa Context Advisory Partners, further showcasing his strategic and technological acumen.
This strategic appointment marks a significant step for 9mobile as it continues to navigate the dynamic telecommunications landscape in Nigeria.
