66th Independence:  From Division to Unification: Why Soyinka, Achebe, Bala Usman Proved We Have Always Been One

—

Happy 66th Independence Anniversary to Nigerians at home and in diaspora — Arise O Compatriots!

Before I reply feedbacks, let me start with three fathers who were already Nigeria before Nigeria knew itself:

Prof Wole Soyinka — Yoruba Conscience — Itu Egwu Chineke. First African Nobel Laureate Literature 1986. Jailed 22 months solitary by Gowon for trying to stop civil war. Faced firing squad. Said: “Man dies in him who keeps silent in face of tyranny.” That is Conscience — fear God, not man.

Prof Chinua Achebe — Igbo Character — Agwa Oma. Author Things Fall Apart, most read African novel. Rejected national honour, said our trouble is failure of leadership, failure of character. Said: “A man who rapes a girl and says he will pay damages — how can he?” Fixing country with falsehood is character failure.

Dr Bala Usman — Hausa/Fulani Competence — Igba Mbo + Ikpachapu Aku Anya. Ahmadu Bello University radical historian, Gyanawa Fulani aristocrat who rejected elite. Said: “There is no Northern interest, no Southern interest — only Nigerian interest manipulated by elite class.” That is Competence — return resources to people who work.

Three tribes, one message: 3Cs — CONSCIENCE, COMPETENCE, CHARACTER — same as Four Pillars of Ndi Igbo: Igba Mbo hard work, Agwa Oma good character, Ikpachapu Aku Anya prudence, Itu Egwu Chineke fear of God.

Then feedbacks came confirming same truth. One Yoruba grandmother said: “Tribalism is a very dangerous weapon politicians use to divide and rule because Nigerians are greedy, foolish and blind.” She diagnosed weapon. Another patriot added: “We have always been one undivided People until politicians weaponized ethnicity in our midst.” He diagnosed victim. That second line is 66 years of history in 14 words.

Both are correct. My life proves it. I am Ijebu man, born Enugu heart of Igbo-land, by Northern mother. God made me all tribes before politicians told me to choose one. I am Miniature Map.

So is Gen Ike Nwachukwu (Rtd) 86 — Igbo father Ovim, Fulani mother Katsina, Yoruba wife + Kalabari wife, speaks three languages. So is Gen Murtala Mohammed — Fulani father, Kanuri/Jobawa mother, Yoruba wife Ajoke, who in 1976 appointed Ndubuisi Kanu first Igbo in Supreme Military Council since 1966. So is Adeleke dynasty — Yoruba father Raji Ayoola, Igbo mother Nnenna Akparah Akwete Abia, produced two governors and father of Davido. Quadruple Miniature Map: Nwachukwu, Murtala, Adeleke, Odusanya — four families, one truth.

This is why I wrote NIGERIA NEEDS A NEW NATIONAL MODEL — 426 pages, over 100 pages dedicated to MIND RESTRUCTURING ADVOCACY, published by Lambert Academic Publishing, Germany. Revised edition NEW NATIONAL MODEL is now in the making. True restructuring is not just sharing 52.68% or downsizing behemoth — 36 to 4 regions, scrap House, Senate 2 per state, 8 ministries career heads — true restructuring is downsizing tribal mind.

2027 is vehicle. Flawless election — BVAS, IReV, real-time — where weaponized ethnicity cannot rig.

Happy Independence Nigerians at home and abroad — We were never divided, we were made divided — Let us remember — CONSCIENCE, COMPETENCE, CHARACTER — 3Cs FOR NEW NIGERIA!

WITNESS 2026 leaves fragments for archaeology — as Prof Pius Adesanmi posited — From Division To Unification.

Richard Olanrewaju Odusanya — Author, NIGERIA NEEDS A NEW NATIONAL MODEL (LAP Germany) — NEW NATIONAL MODEL in the making — Miniature Map — 3Cs
