Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, will pay her first official visit to Anambra State on September 10, with a packed itinerary that includes the empowerment of 5,000 residents, the launch of the South-East Community Food Bank Programme and the commissioning of projects at the Federal Polytechnic, Oko.
The visit will be Senator Tinubu’s first to the state since becoming First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and is expected to deepen collaboration between the Federal Government and the Anambra State Government on poverty reduction, food security and economic empowerment initiatives.
A statement by the Senior Media Aide to Governor Chukwuma Soludo, Mr Daniel Ezeigwe, said a major highlight of the visit would be the empowerment of 5,000 beneficiaries under the Progressives United Against Poverty Initiative, implemented in partnership with the Anambra State Government as part of the First Lady’s Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) Economic Support Scheme.
“The programme is aimed at providing practical economic support to vulnerable individuals and households to improve their livelihoods and boost productivity.
“Another key event on the itinerary is the launch of the National Community Food Bank Programme for the South-East geopolitical zone, with Anambra selected to host the regional rollout. The initiative is expected to strengthen food security and support vulnerable households amid growing concerns over hunger and nutrition across the region,” he said.

The statement said Senator Tinubu would also visit the Federal Polytechnic, Oko, where she is expected to commission key infrastructure projects at the institution.
The visit comes as relations between the Federal Government and Anambra continue to receive public emphasis, following President Bola Tinubu’s previous visit to the state, during which he described the relationship with the state as one anchored on partnership and shared prosperity, while commending Governor Soludo’s development efforts.
The statement said the September 10 visit holds great prospects for the state, as thousands of residents are expected to benefit directly from the empowerment programme and other interventions lined up for the First Lady’s visit.
