47 Boko Haram and ISWAP Fighters Surrender to MNJTF in Borno

Over 47 Boko Haram and the Islamic State’s West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists surrendered to the troops of the 403 Amphibious Brigade, which is part of the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) in Sector 3.
This took place in the areas of Kwatan Turare and Doron Baga, located in the Kukawa Local Government Area of Borno State, Nigeria, on May 15, 2024.
The group that surrendered comprised 7 men, 9 women, and 31 children. During the initial investigation, it was discovered that these individuals had managed to escape from Sharama, a location in the Lake Chad Islands.
Among those who surrendered was Mallam Muazu Adamu, a well-known fighter within the Jama’at Ahl as-Sunnah lid-Da’wah wa’l-Jihad (JAS) faction, which operates under Commander Alai Gana. Adamu surrendered along with his wife.
According to other members of the group, they had been involved in farming activities before deciding to flee. When they surrendered, they had various personal belongings with them, including clothes, blankets, mats, pots, and plates.
Currently, these individuals are in custody and are undergoing further investigation to gather more detailed information about their activities and affiliations.
The MNJTF is dedicated to maintaining peace and security in the Lake Chad basin region and continues to make efforts to weaken the operational capabilities of terrorist groups in the area.
This event is seen as a positive step towards reducing the influence and operational strength of terrorist organizations in the region.
The MNJTF is actively encouraging others who are still involved in terrorist activities to surrender and choose the path of peace.
