400 Community Leaders Trained in Safety Measures Against Unexploded Bombs in Borno

—

The Centre for Civilians in Conflict (CIVIC), in collaboration with its Community Protection Committee (CPC), is committed to continuing its assistance to the people in Monguno and Konduga, areas within Borno State, Nigeria.
Their primary goal is to ensure the safety and protection of civilians from various threats. Miss Saratu Pindar, who heads the CIVIC program team, emphasized this commitment during a four-day event held in the Monguno L.G. Area of Borno State.
She said, “We are committed to empowering communities with the right knowledge and tools to mitigate these risks effectively, we have been able to sensitize 400 people in both Monguno and Konduga respectively”.
She mentioned that there have been more threats against civilians lately, so the CPCs, along with security forces, wanted to inform people about it.
“We really care about keeping communities safe and well. This event shows how dedicated we are to making sure people have what they need to deal with challenges and have safer communities,” Saratu added.
Habib Maidugu, who works with the CPC in Konduga, said they were happy about the event. They believe it’s a big step in their efforts to protect and strengthen the community.
“We know it’s important for the community to be involved in solving protection problems. By working together, we can find good ways to reduce risks and make our societies stronger,” he said
The Community Liaison Officer for Monguno, Mr Godwin Emmanue, stressed that protecting civilians is not just the right thing to do, but it also helps bring lasting peace and stability.
