396 Beggars Rounded Up as Lagos Intensifies Environmental Enforcement

The Lagos State Government has apprehended 396 beggars in a coordinated environmental sanitation enforcement operation aimed at keeping the state cleaner, safer and more orderly.

The Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, disclosed this in a statement shared on his official X account on Tuesday.

According to Wahab, the operation was carried out by operatives of the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps (LAGESC) as part of the government’s sustained campaign to improve environmental sanitation and tackle illegal activities across the state.

He said all those apprehended would undergo profiling before receiving necessary support where applicable.

The commissioner added that they would thereafter be handed over to the appropriate authorities for safe repatriation to their respective states.

Wahab said the exercise reflects the Lagos State Government’s commitment to maintaining public order, protecting the environment and improving public safety.

He reaffirmed that the government would continue enforcement operations to ensure a cleaner environment and enhance the quality of life for residents.
