The 27 Members of Rivers’ State House of Assembly who are in support of Governor Amaechi (pro-Amaechi Lawmakers) have thrown their weights behind the decision of Governor Amaechi to defect from the PDP to the APC.
The Deputy Speaker of Rivers State House of Assembly, Leyii Kwanee said this while addressing newsmen in Port Harcourt on behalf of the Honourable Members of the House.
Mr. Kwanee stated that the defection of Governor Amaechi from the People’s Democratic Party to the All Progressives’ Congress was a bold move and in the interest of Rivers State; adding that his continued stay in the PDP was a disservice to the people of Rivers State.
“We are with him for the decision he has taken so far. As it relates to the House, we are aware of the relevant sections of the law and we will ensure that we do not flout the law, when we also move with the Governor,” he said.
The lawmaker also stated that Governor Amaechi had suffered untold hardship in the PDP but endured it because the President also comes from his region; adding that the defection of the Governor became the best choice since he was pushed to the wall.
