25-Year-Old Abuja Singer Nanyah Dies of Snake Bite, Hospitals Allegedly Lacked Anti-Venom

A 25-year-old Abuja-based singer, Ifunanya Nwangene, popularly known by her stage name Nanyah, has reportedly died after suffering a snake bite at her residence in the early hours of the morning.
The incident occurred at her home in Abuja when a snake attacked her and inflicted a bite that later proved fatal. Sources said the young artiste made frantic efforts to save her life by rushing herself to two different hospitals in search of urgent medical care.
However, she was allegedly turned away or left untreated due to the unavailability of anti-venom at the facilities she visited. Reports indicate that despite her efforts to survive, no life-saving anti-venom was accessible.
Sources also disclosed that this was not the first time a snake had been sighted in or around Nanyah’s residence.
Following the news of her death, reactions have continued to trail the incident on social media, with many Nigerians expressing shock, grief, and outrage. While some users speculated about supernatural or spiritual causes behind the snake attack, no evidence has been provided to support such claims.
As of the time of filing this report, no official statement had been issued by the police or health authorities regarding the circumstances surrounding her death, and it remains unclear whether a formal investigation has been launched.
Nanyah, a classical, jazz, R&B, and soul singer, was described by friends and fans as a talented and rising artiste with a growing presence in Abuja’s local music scene.
Her sudden death has once again drawn attention to Nigeria’s fragile emergency healthcare system, particularly the lack of critical life-saving drugs such as anti-venom in hospitals, even within the Federal Capital Territory.
