2027: While Small Animals Bark, Tinubu Will Roar— APC Boasts

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, has declared that more state governors will join the ruling party ahead of the 2027 general elections, crediting the wave of defections to President Bola Tinubu’s performance.

Speaking at the 12th expanded stakeholders’ meeting of the APC in Bayelsa State, Yilwatda, represented by Deputy National Chairman (South), Chief Emma Eneukwu, said Tinubu’s leadership is drawing political heavyweights into the party.

“Our doors are still open. More governors, more senators, more House of Representatives members are moving in because of the caliber, integrity, and results of the man we made president,” he said.

Yilwatda likened Tinubu to a lion unfazed by rivals: “Other people are running around trying to challenge the president in 2027. But when you have a lion and other small animals are barking, the lion doesn’t take notice. He goes about his duties properly. That is what the president is doing.”

He pointed to the recent defections of Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwore and Akwa Ibom State Governor Umo Eno from the PDP as evidence of Tinubu’s growing support base.

It is expected that dogs will bark, it’s expected that opposition will speak and rise, but it is assured we have a product that even a blind man in this country will support overwhelmingly,” Yilwatda added.

He lauded South-South and South-East governors for what he described as “realistic and understanding” decisions to back Tinubu, insisting the president is “on the move to take Nigeria to a greater height” and will secure an “overwhelming victory” in 2027.
