Leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Badagry Division of Lagos State have vowed to deliver massive votes for President Bola Tinubu and other party candidates in the 2027 general elections.
The party leaders made the commitment on Tuesday at the Badagry Division APC Women Assembly held at the Amuwo-Odofin Local Government Secretariat.
They said the division would work to make up for what they described as its vote deficit in the 2023 presidential election and ensure a stronger performance for the APC in 2027.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the gathering, attended by hundreds of women, political office holders and party stakeholders, was themed, “The Crucial Role of Women in Grassroots Mobilisation.”
Speaking at the event, the APC Apex Leader in the division, Prince Rabiu Oluwa, said the party had begun preparations to mobilise voters for Tinubu’s re-election and the success of other APC candidates.
“The election is about five months away. Awareness, mobilisation and organisation of voters is what we need now.
“All of us know how crucial the role of women is in elections. We are owing President Bola Tinubu votes in 2023. We have a deficit and we must make up and ensure the 2027 election is a compensation,” Oluwa said.
He urged APC women to intensify mobilisation across their communities, saying the 2027 election must produce a different outcome for the division.
“Next election must not be like the 2023 presidential election. Badagry Division must show strength and make the president proud,” he said.
Sen. Idiat Adebule, representing Lagos West in the Senate, commended the party’s leadership and members for their support, saying the immediate task was to secure more votes for the APC in 2027.
Adebule, who highlighted some of her projects across the local government areas in the division, reaffirmed her commitment to people-oriented representation in line with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
The convener of the event and former Lagos State Deputy Governor, Princess Sarah Sosan, said the meeting was organised to galvanise women across the division ahead of the 2027 elections.
Sosan urged APC women to become more actively involved in grassroots mobilisation and justify the support the party had received in the division.
“We have to be more involved, go out there and justify what the party has done for this division.
“By God’s grace, the President will be proud of us as a division and others will follow. There is no shaking for the APC till 2031,” she said.
Sosan said the emergence of Mrs Damilola Sonayon-James, an indigene of the division, as the APC deputy governorship candidate should further motivate party members to intensify their mobilisation efforts.
She described the re-election of Tinubu and other APC candidates as achievable, assuring that no party member would be left behind in the mobilisation drive.
The APC Apex Women Leader in the division, Alhaja Memunat Ajao, said the women had commenced mobilisation and would intensify efforts immediately after the meeting.
“We must tell our women that work has started and we must do it well and deliver for the party,” Ajao said.
Prince Lanre Sanusi, Chairman of Amuwo-Odofin Local Government, said the division was determined to regain lost ground through effective women mobilisation and organisation.
“2027 APC victory will be convincing and women will bring the change. Women are powerful and great mobilisers,” he said.
Similarly, Mr Olalekan Olu Akindipe, Secretary of the Forum of Local Government Chairmen and Executive Chairman of Ajeromi-Ifelodun LGA, said the APC was confident of victory in 2027.
He said the party would return to the grassroots to organise women and sustain regular meetings aimed at strengthening support for the APC.
Delivering the keynote address, Mrs Mojisola Ali-Macaulay, Executive Director, Operations, Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF), described women as critical drivers of grassroots mobilisation, electoral success and community development.
Ali-Macaulay, a former member of the Lagos State House of Assembly, said women possessed significant mobilisation capacity through their roles in homes, markets, religious centres and communities.
She said grassroots mobilisation involved listening to people, encouraging civic participation, promoting peaceful engagement and ensuring that communities were not excluded from the democratic process.
“Grassroots mobilisation begins where people live and work—in our homes, markets, places of worship, schools and neighbourhoods,” she said.

Ali-Macaulay stressed that electoral victories were largely determined by effective grassroots engagement rather than media campaigns alone.
“Elections are won in the streets, wards, polling units, markets, compounds and community meetings where women engage directly with the people,” she said.
She commended APC women in Badagry Division for their contributions to voter education, membership mobilisation, campaign coordination, conflict resolution and community engagement.
The NSITF executive director urged the women to strengthen unity across wards and local government areas while remaining advocates for peace, development and democratic participation.
She also called on male party members to support the advancement of women in politics.
In her remarks, Sonayon-James described the APC as a rewarding party and urged members to remain committed, saying party leaders were watching their contributions.
NAN reports that APC leaders at the event formally presented Sonayon-James and other candidates from the division to the women.
