President Bola Tinubu has declared that his political opponents are allegedly attempting to exploit Nigeria’s security challenges to undermine his administration, insisting he will not be forced out of office.
“You’re playing into their hands with insecurity. My enemies want to use insecurity in the country to get rid of me, but I’m a stubborn politician who refuses to go, and I will campaign for my second term,” Tinubu said.
The president’s remarks have reignited public discussion, particularly in light of his past political stance before assuming office, when he was a vocal critic of successive governments over worsening insecurity.
Tinubu was also a prominent supporter of the global “Bring Back Our Girls” campaign, which followed the 2014 abduction of schoolgirls in Chibok, Borno State, an incident that occurred in the home state of Vice President Kashim Shettima, adding further political context to the evolving conversation around security and governance.
