The Director of the Abuja School of Social and Political Thought, Sam Amadi, has said the Igbo’s path to producing Nigeria’s President lies in what he described as dignity.
Amadi made the assertion in a post on X, stressing that the pursuit of the presidency should not come at the expense of the dignity and wellbeing of the Igbo people.
He wrote, “I have said it before, the only pathway to Igbo presidency in Nigeria is a path called ‘dignity’. Eji ndu eme gini (what is the value of life), talk less of Nigerian presidency, outside dignity.”
His comment comes amid renewed discussions over the possibility of the South-East producing Nigeria’s President in 2027.
The region had pushed for one of its sons, Peter Obi to emerge as president during the 2019 and 2023 general elections.

In 2019, the former Anambra State Governor, Peter Obi, served as the presidential running mate to the Peoples Democratic Party candidate, Atiku Abubakar. The ticket, however, lost the election to the All Progressives Congress candidate, Muhammadu Buhari.
Obi later left the PDP for the Labour Party and contested the 2023 presidential election, where he finished third behind Atiku and the eventual winner, Bola Tinubu of the APC.
Obi is also set to contest the 2027 presidential election under the platform of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC.
