2027: Re-elect My Husband, I Want to Enjoy Nigeria in Old Age – Remi Tinubu

First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has appealed to women and other voters in the South-East to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid in the 2027 presidential election, saying she wants to enjoy a better Nigeria in her old age.

The first lady made the appeal on Wednesday in Owerri, Imo State, while speaking to women during her visit to the state as part of an empowerment programme for women across the South-East, The News Chronicle reports.

“Make una vote for Mr President, we go work for una and Nigeria go better. I want to enjoy Nigeria at old age, so I will work for Nigeria, for my old age.” She said.

The First Lady was in Owerri to empower women under an initiative implemented through the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

According to her, the programme would benefit 18,500 women across the country, with 500 women from each of the five South-East states expected to receive various items to support their businesses.

The items distributed include generators, industrial grinding machines, gas cylinders and ovens.

On his part, Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma provided additional empowerment items for 2,000 women in the state, bringing the total number of beneficiaries in Imo to 2,500.

Responding, Mrs RemiTinubu announced an additional N100,000 cash support for each beneficiary of the programme in Imo.

She said the initiative was aimed at recognising the critical role women play in nation-building and economic development while helping beneficiaries improve their livelihoods and support their families.

The First Lady also urged the beneficiaries to use the support judiciously and see it as a foundation for building a better future for themselves and their families.

Governor Uzodimma, in his remarks, pledged the support of Imo people for President Tinubu’s re-election in 2027, saying the people of the state appreciated the Federal Government’s interventions and infrastructure projects.

He assured the First Lady that Imo would stand firmly behind the President in the 2027 presidential election.

The first lady was also conferred with the chieftaincy title of Osodieme by the traditional institution in Imo State.
