Abia State Governor, Dr Alex Otti, has said every Nigerian has the constitutional right to aspire to become president, regardless of their state or region of origin.
Otti made the remark during an interview with ARISE News monitored by The News Chronicle, where he spoke on political participation, leadership and the right of citizens to seek elective office.
The governor said a person’s geographical background should not determine whether they can aspire to the nation’s highest political office.

According to him, the presidency should be open to qualified Nigerians from every part of the country, with individual capacity and democratic choice taking precedence over ethnic or regional considerations.
Otti’s position comes amid ongoing national discussions on political inclusion, zoning and the eligibility of aspirants ahead of the 2027 general elections.
