A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, Cletus Obun, has warned that the growing influx of new governors into the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) is sidelining the party’s founding members and fuelling internal discontent.
Speaking in an Arise News interview monitored by The News Chronicle, Obun urged the party’s national chairman to urgently rein in leaders across all states to avert a looming implosion driven by competing interests ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Responding to the defection of some APC heavyweights into the opposition ADC, the former lawmaker stressed that only individuals capable of resolving internal party disputes can effectively tackle national challenges.
Obun further noted that the ruling APC continues to roll out the red carpet for new entrants based on the political capital they bring, insisting that despite the growing tensions, “APC remains consistent in its ideological purity.”
