2027: Obi Mobilises Nigerians Ahead of Elections, Calls for Mass Voter Registration

The presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, Peter Obi, has urged eligible Nigerians to take advantage of the ongoing voter registration exercise, describing it as the foundation for building a better nation.

In a statement made available to The News Chronicle on Wednesday, Obi said he made an unscheduled stop at Waru Wazobia in Abuja, where he interacted with residents and encouraged youths and women to register to vote.

According to him, the journey to a new Nigeria begins not on Election Day but with voter registration, stressing that obtaining a voter card is both a civic duty and an investment in the country’s future.

“The power to change Nigeria does not begin on Election Day; it begins with voter registration. Registering to vote is not just a civic responsibility; it is an investment in the future we all desire,” he said.

Obi called on all eligible Nigerians who are yet to register to do so without delay, while urging those who already possess Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) to mobilise their family members, friends, neighbours, and colleagues to participate in the exercise.

He maintained that meaningful national transformation requires active citizen participation rather than mere hope.

“A new Nigeria will not happen through wishful thinking. It will be built by citizens who participate, who believe, and who act. Let us continue to choose hope over despair, participation over apathy, and nation-building over division,” Obi stated.
