The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has warned the public against dealing with individuals allegedly posing as candidates and leaders of the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The party also clarified that it has not joined any coalition or entered into any working arrangement with another political party ahead of the elections.
NNPP Founder, Dr Boniface Aniebonam, disclosed this in a statement issued on Tuesday in Abuja.
Aniebonam said the party’s leadership had become aware of individuals who had been expelled from the NNPP but were allegedly presenting themselves as party leaders to unsuspecting political parties and candidates.
“It has come to the knowledge of NNPP leadership that certain individuals, who have been expelled from our fold, confirmed by court judgments and INEC, have been parading themselves as leaders of the party with the intent to extort money from unsuspecting political parties and candidates,” he said.
He specifically urged the APC, NDC and African Democratic Congress (ADC) to exercise caution when dealing with individuals claiming to represent the NNPP or other political parties without proper verification.
Aniebonam further advised political parties and candidates who may have paid money to such individuals for contest fees or political alliances to seek refunds from those involved.
He said the authentic NNPP, identified by its basket of fruits logo, is not part of any coalition.

“The authentic NNPP with basket of fruits logo is not a member of any coalition. It stands to reason that as a national political party, we are independent,” he stated.
According to him, the NNPP would announce any decision regarding strategic alliances with other political parties for the 2027 elections if and when the need arises.
Aniebonam also listed the officials recognised by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as the authentic leaders authorised to speak and make decisions on behalf of the party.
They are Aniebonam, Founder and Chairman, Board of Trustees; Dr Agbo Major, National Chairman; Oginni Olaposi, National Secretary; Prince Toyese, National Treasurer; and Aisha Kade Onyia, National Woman Leader.
