Ahead of the 2027 general elections, the House of Representatives candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the Idemili North and South Federal Constituency, Dr Kingsley Kenechukwu Ezekwelu, has pledged to ensure that his constituents feel the impact of the Federal Government through improved infrastructure and people-centred programmes if elected.
In an interview with The News Chronicle, Ezekwelu lamented the poor state of critical social amenities, including roads and schools, as well as limited access to soft loans for small and medium-scale enterprises (SMEs), describing them as obstacles to the development of the constituency.
He said his tenure in the House would prioritise inclusive leadership, economic opportunities for young people and legislation aimed at improving the welfare and security of his constituents.
“I will make laws that would ease the pain and suffering of my constituents, laws that would guarantee their security, peace, prosperity and freedom.

“My first responsibility is to speak for my people and bring to the attention of government their needs and expectations. I will carry the programmes and projects of government to my people so that they can feel the impact of government.” He added.
Ezekwelu further noted that Idemili North and South had continued to grapple with challenges in agriculture, access to potable water, good road networks and other basic infrastructure, despite the constituency’s large youthful population and economic potential.
He pledged to provide quality representation that would effectively project, protect and advance the interests of the constituency in the Green Chamber.
On the strength of opposition parties, including the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), African Democratic Congress (ADC) and National Democratic Congress (NDC), which could challenge his candidacy, Ezekwelu argued that voters were increasingly looking beyond political party platforms when making electoral choices.
According to him, personality, credibility and the ability to genuinely represent the interests of the people would play a decisive role in the 2027 election.
While acknowledging the APC’s status as one of Nigeria’s largest political parties, Ezekwelu maintained that the election would ultimately be determined by a candidate’s personal credibility, track record and connection with the people.
He expressed confidence that his understanding of the aspirations of the people, coupled with his commitment to their development, would give him an edge over other contenders.
