2027: I’ll Defeat Tinubu Even If All 36 Governors Back Him -Peter Obi

Former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has declared that the growing support enjoyed by President Bola Tinubu among state governors will not determine the outcome of the 2027 presidential election.

Speaking during an interview with NoireTV monitored by The News Chronicle on Thursday, Obi insisted that political power ultimately belongs to the people, not elected governors.

He recalled that he won 12 states in the 2023 presidential election despite not having the backing of any governor.

Obi also repeated his claim that he was deprived of victories in two states during the 2023 election, arguing that he would have secured 14 states if the process had been fair.

According to him, the 2027 election should focus on improving the lives of ordinary Nigerians rather than political endorsements and elite alliances. He stressed the need for a Nigeria where issues such as poverty, education, healthcare, and citizens’ welfare take precedence over ethnicity, religion, and tribal politics.

Obi further noted that many Nigerians are struggling with hunger and economic hardship, insisting that addressing these challenges should be the primary concern of political leaders ahead of the next general election
