As political rhetoric around the 2027 presidential election grows increasingly heated, a public advocacy group, NEW NIGERIA INITIATIVE, has singled out Senator Abdul’aziz Abubakar Yari for taking what it described as a markedly different approach to political campaigning.
The group said Yari, Director-General of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council, has chosen to steer clear of political bickering, mudslinging and provocative rhetoric, instead keeping his focus on issues it believes could strengthen the ruling party’s chances at the polls.
In a statement signed by its Director of Public Affairs, Chris Oke, the group described Yari’s approach as a significant departure from the combative style often associated with election campaigns, saying his political ingenuity and maturity were among the qualities that earned him the top campaign position.
“We have observed the disposition of the Director-General of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council, Senator Abdul’aziz Abubakar Yari, and are pleased to say that we are satisfied with his approach,” the statement said.
According to the group, Yari has remained neither boastful nor showy, choosing instead to concentrate on issues while quietly discharging his responsibilities without creating unnecessary problems for the party.
This is the stuff maturity is made of, it said, urging political actors who are throwing tantrums in the name of campaign to learn from Yari’s disposition.
The organisation also credited Yari’s approach with helping to prevent the APC Presidential Campaign Council from becoming embroiled in unnecessary confrontations with opposition parties.
“His decent disposition is also the reason why the APC Presidential Campaign Council is not at war with opposition political parties. Yari is ensuring that the campaign stays focused,” the group said.
It noted that the APC faces a major task in defending its mandate as the ruling party, arguing that the challenge requires maturity, dedication, steadfastness and a clear sense of purpose.
“Yari has all of this in abundance. He has a mission, that is, to deliver the party at the polls,” the statement added.
The group consequently declared Yari the right man for the job, urging him to remain focused as he leads the party’s presidential campaign ahead of the 2027 election.
