2027: Atiku Too Old to Contest , Amaechi Too Weak in Rivers — Fayose

Former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has said former Vice President and African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, is too old to contest another presidential election.

Fayose stated this in an interview on TVC, monitored by The News Chronicle.

The former governor compared Atiku’s potential 2027 presidential bid to former United States President Joe Biden seeking another term, arguing that age could work against the former vice president.

“Atiku is now really old. He’s a good man, but time has caught up with him. Atiku contesting an election is like calling Biden to come and contest again,” Fayose said.

He added that President Bola Tinubu, Atiku and Labour Party’s Peter Obi may all be contesting what could be their final presidential elections.

Let me say this again: President Bola Tinubu, Atiku and Peter Obi, this is their last chance of contesting an election. The three of them,” he said.

Fayose also questioned the political strength of Atiku’s running mate, former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi, particularly in the South-South.

According to him, Amaechi may struggle to mobilise support in Rivers State because the ADC and other opposition structures are yet to establish strong grassroots connections in the region.

“In Rivers State, during this election, Amaechi will have very little support. Even the party is not together. Most of these ADC and Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, members are not on the ground. Nobody is connected to those parties yet,” Fayose said.
