2027: Anambra APC Targets 400,000 New Members, as E-registration Kicks Off

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Anambra State has kick-started its e-registration of its members, with a target to secure at least 400,000 new members ahead of the 2027 General Elections.

The exercise, which holds in the 21 Councils of the state simultaneously, was aimed at boosting the membership base of the party.

During a well-attended stakeholders meeting held in Awka on Sunday, the Director General of the South East Governors’ Forum, Senator Uche Ekwunife, said the new initiative would boost the party’s membership strength and withstand any electoral tide in all future elections.

The ambitious number, she added, would ensure the party becomes politically inviolable.

Ekwunife, who convened the stakeholders meeting, charged the 326 ward Chairmen and their executive members to mobilize and adequately sensitize members so as to garner enough support for all the candidates of the party in the coming 2027 election.

The exercise, Ekwunife explained, was to enable the party to empower its committed and ascertained members.

She said, “We are looking at each ward registering at least 1,000 new members of the party, and if we can do that and through the electoral wards, we shall be looking at over 336,000 new members into our party.

“The party wants to empower its members through this e-registration and it is important for the party to know the number of its committed members of the party.

“APC members are desirous of winning elections for their party and we cannot do without the ward Chairmen because they are the custodians of the party down the ladder at the ward level,” she said.

The State Chairman of the party, Chief Basil Ejidike pointed out that politics remains a game of numbers, adding that without the numbers, a party cannot win any election.

Referring to the Nov 8, 2025, off-season governorship election in the state, Ejidike said, “We went into the election with almost nothing. That was what cost us the Gubernatorial poll victory.

“If we scored above 100,000 votes during the last election, we would do far better in subsequent elections, especially the Presidential election that is coming up next year.

“We shall do all we can to ensure that everybody is registered in Anambra State to give us leverage in the National and State Assembly elections as well as the Presidential election,” he said.

The Chairman of Anambra South zonal Chapter of the party, Mr Izuchukwu Okeke, who spoke on behalf of other zonal Chairmen, announced that all the ward Chairmen and their executive members have already been sensitized and mobilized ahead of the e-registration, adding that they would over shoot the targeted number of new members.
