Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Fintiri, has declared that the All Progressives Congress (APC) will secure overwhelming support from the state in the 2027 general elections, promising to mobilise massive votes for President Bola Tinubu.
Fintiri, who recently dumped the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the ruling APC about two weeks ago, made the pledge during a visit to the party’s national secretariat in Abuja.
The governor spoke shortly after a private meeting with the APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, alongside members of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC).
According to him, the visit was aimed at reaffirming his loyalty to the party and demonstrating his readiness to work for the victory of President Tinubu and all APC candidates in the 2027 polls.
Fintiri confidently assured the party leadership that Adamawa would deliver at least 85 per cent of its votes to the APC during the election.
He expressed strong confidence that Nigerians across the country would support Tinubu’s re-election bid, citing what he described as the president’s impressive performance since assuming office.
“We have fully aligned at the moment to APC, because it’s a home return for most of us, today I’m here officially to pay a courtesy visit on the party’s national chairman and the members of its NWC.
“The visit is to further pledge my loyalty to the party and to assure that we have come to work and ensure that we also deliver on the electoral value.
“Judging by the work done by President Tinubu, he deserves a second term, and I think it’s going to be smooth,” the governor said.
Fintiri acknowledged that some of the policies introduced by the current administration had been tough on citizens but maintained that Nigerians would ultimately support Tinubu to continue his reforms.
He added that the government’s programmes were already producing positive outcomes and placing the country on the path of progress.
“With Tinubu as Nigeria’s president, there is light at the end of the tunnel,” he said.
Earlier, APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, applauded Fintiri for joining the ruling party, describing him as “a fitted political maestro” whose political influence would further strengthen the APC.
“Fintiri is a fitted political maestro and everybody knows the value he has brought to the politics of the North-East in terms of coordination and bringing new life to Adamawa.
“In terms of project and development, what he has done is unbelievable, so bringing him into the APC, is one of the best actions that we are having in recent times.
“We want to welcome him to where he rightly belongs, he is a progressive with a progressive mind, he wouldn’t have settled anywhere else than the APC.
“In the party, his policies would be best appreciated, and fit into the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Tinubu,” Yilwatda said.
Commenting on the growing challenges within opposition parties ahead of the 2027 elections, the APC chairman stated that it was not the responsibility of the ruling party to help organise its rivals.
He urged opposition parties to put their houses in order if they hoped to compete effectively in the next election cycle, noting that the APC would simply focus on consolidating its victories.
“It is not our duty to organise opposition political parties, our duty is to ensure we win the election, so we can’t go and start organising, funding and building the opposition.
“It is a competition, we are presenting our scorecard to Nigerians who believe in us,” the APC national chairman said.
He further noted that the party’s growing acceptance among Nigerians was evident in the outcomes of recent local government elections conducted in several parts of the country.
