French football analyst Walid Acherchour has backed Barcelona star Lamine Yamal to secure a significant share of the votes for the 2026 Ballon d’Or, citing the youngster’s remarkable performances for both club and country.
Acherchour said the Spain international has established himself as one of the leading contenders for football’s most prestigious individual award after an impressive campaign.
Yamal enjoyed a successful season with Barcelona, helping the Catalan club win the La Liga title, while also playing a key role in Spain’s FIFA World Cup triumph.
The 19-year-old is widely regarded as one of the favourites for the Ballon d’Or, alongside players such as Harry Kane, Kylian Mbappé, and other top performers.
Speaking in remarks quoted by Footballtweet on X via After Foot RMC, Acherchour praised Yamal’s consistency and influence throughout the season.
“Lamine Yamal could receive a huge number of Ballon d’Or votes.
“The consistency Lamine Yamal has shown, combined with winning La Liga, putting up even better numbers than last season, and then going on to win the World Cup… I think Lamine Yamal should receive a huge number of Ballon d’Or votes,” he said.
